Dr. Ahmad is a Consultant Haematologist specialising in the treatment of a broad range of blood and bone marrow disorders. He received his specialist training in London at King's College Hospital and St. Thomas' Hospital as part of the London Deanery’s training programme. During his time at King's, he received training in non-malignant and malignant bone marrow disorders including Leukaemias, Lymphomas and Myeloma. He also received training in bone marrow transplantation and served as the Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator. He then moved to St Thomas' Hospital as a Senior Registrar, where he received advanced specialist training in Thrombotic, Myeloproliferative disorders and Sickle Cell disease.

After working in various hospitals in London, Dr. Ahmad moved to Derby and has been working as a Consultant Haematologist at Queen's Hospital Burton and Nuffield Hospital Derby since early 2007.

Dr. Ahmad strives to deliver patient-centred, compassionate care to all his patients and is an advocate for improving patient safety and the patient experience. He has been the recipient of various awards, including the Health and Social Care Award for Patient Safety in 2009. At a national level, he serves as a Trustee for the British Society of Haematology and has previously served as a Regional Advisor (West Midlands) for the Royal College of Pathologists.
